                        COMMENTS LOG

Comments:  I felt quite emotional about this article. At last we find that not all Chinese people agree with killing and eating anything that is living. That is the impression that has been given over time. It is so heartening what you are all doing to preserve these beautiful birds who face extinction. Technology (Twitter - very appropriate!) has been put to good use. Well done Chinese bird preservers you are doing a wonderful job.

Comments:  This is awesome and we praise God for guys like these volunteers who are putting so much into stopping this horrendous activity of poisoning birds. We need this passion to capture our people in Kenya as well where Carbofuran is also used illegally to kill birds - as well as lions and other predators. We pray that you continue to be successful in your fight for God's awesome creation.

Comments:  I'd like to add my voice to those already heard, thanking you one and all for the fantastic work you have done !  I hope you know that not just ca. 200 people on here but  hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of conservationists, birders and just average citizens, both in China and around the world, are praising and admiring your actions.  China is waking up to a maelstrom of voices that demand to be heard.

Credit must also be given to the authorities for their prompt actions in aiding the people in their fight against those that are driven by greed, ignorance or cruelty and destroying our children's heritage.

Long may this conservancy revolution strengthen & grow in resolve and impact !

Comments:  Nemo and the team of volunteers are doing a fabulous job in raising our awareness of this criminal act and saving at least a few of the storks. Hopefully their brave actions will make it much less likely that there will be similar incidents in the future. In a country where food safety is such a topical issue I can't really understand why anyone would use poison to kill a bird (wild or not) that was destined to be eaten. GREAT JOB FOLKS - TOTAL RESPECT!

Comments:  For many years now I have seen the numbers of migratory birds of East Siberia falling.  Foreign ornithologists surveying our taiga, steppe, lakes and rivers are surprised: - but where are the birds?  Each year fewer and fewer return in the spring. This extermination of migratory birds on their way to their wintering grounds and at the grounds themselves must be stopped!  This is a serious international problem.  And thank you, Chinese activists, for saving migratory birds!

Comments: This is absolutely disgusting, do the Chinese not understand how important these birds are. Once they're gone that's it. Thankfully some locals have the sense to see the light. The sooner China outlaws this behaviour the better. Until then, keep up the much needed support for those birds. Good luck to one and all.

Comments:   I have made eight long birding visits to China. Well done in ripping down these illegal nets. Keep it up. The practice must be stopped. If I find any nets on my next visit in 2013 I too will rip them down.

Comments:  Great to see this positive action being taken against illegal netting, congratulations to everyone involved! More and more Europeans are now becoming aware that this is not only a problem in some places in Europe, but is also a serious problem in China. However, they can now also see that steps are being taken to improve the situation.

Comments:  It's wonderful news that local Chinese and expatriates are joining forces to stamp out this ghastly behaviour. Trapping by poor people for food is to be expected, but this slaughter goes far beyond that. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Comments:  Good work in removing mist nets. The government should educate and train the mist netters to be bird guides for foreign birdwatchers. They already know the birds, so some reading in guide books and fragmentary English would be all they needed.

Comments:  Congratulations on taking such a brave stance. Illegal bird trapping reflects very badly on China. Many of us do understand that not all Chinese trap birds of course and I would like to offer my support to your campaign from here in England and help you stop this cruelty and unnecessary killing taking place.
